Maali Parental and Community Engagement (PaCE) Program

The aim of the "Maali Parent and Carers" PaCE Project is to develop and sustain the cultural sensitivity of the Swan Aboriginal community so that they may be empowered with confidence, skills and knowledge to participate effectively in their children's education and future pathways.

This was comprehensive program aimed at building the capacity of Aboriginal parents, carers and families in the Midland area to participate effectively in their children’s education. The activities have relevance to the early years, child development, school readiness, pre-primary, primary, secondary school and tertiary education settings.

The program has four central areas of focus:

  1. Advocacy
  2. Strengthening of networks
  3. Parent, carer and community education and empowerment
  4. Robust research and evaluation
